Valve has delivered an OS update that paves the way for ASUS’s ROG Ally and other handheld devices, which will soon run on SteamOS. Valve has announced that SteamOS now supports third-party handhelds – including one of the best-selling hand-held devices, ASUS ROG Ally. SteamOS Coming to ASUS ROG Ally?

The launch was alluded to in that final note—SteamOS 3.6.9 Bega: Megafixer, the release notes said “Added support for extra ROG Ally keys”—implying compatibility with third-party hardware. The update stems from Valve’s previously mentioned long-term mission to bring SteamOS compatibility with more portable platforms beyond the ROG Ally, though it may take some time before other devices can run on SteamOS.
