Sometimes a film just quietly sneaks up on everyone and refuses to stop. Vaazha 2 is doing exactly that. Directed by Savin Sa and starring a largely fresh-faced cast, this coming-of-age comedy drama has turned into one of the biggest surprise blockbusters of 2026 in [Malayalam cinema](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayalam_cinema) — and the numbers after just 11 days prove it beyond doubt.

## How Big Is This, Really?

Let’s put this in perspective. Vaazha 2 is currently the **sixth highest-grossing Malayalam film globally**, and it’s about to leapfrog even further. The film is on the verge of surpassing Tovino Thomas’ *2018* (which earned Rs. 175.50 crore worldwide), which would make it the **fifth biggest Malayalam grosser of all time**.

With the momentum from its second weekend still carrying forward, the film is expected to cross **Rs. 170 crore worldwide** by its second Monday — and the Rs. 200 crore milestone is now very much a realistic target.

What makes this even more extraordinary? The film doesn’t have a single established star at the top. It’s Hashir, Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy, and Vinayak — fresh faces — carrying this blockbuster on their shoulders. This is essentially pure word-of-mouth power.

## Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros

The film is a direct sequel to the original *Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys*, written and produced by Vipin Das. Savin Sa helms the director’s chair this time, bringing a fresh, youthful energy to the story. Music is handled by the collective of Malayali Monkeys along with several indie artists, with the background score by A Team and musical supervision by Ankit Menon. Akhil Lailasuran captures the visuals while Kannan Mohan handles the editing.

It’s a film made with heart, and audiences across India and the world are responding to it with exactly that — pure heart.
