Let’s be honest — nobody saw this coming. A small-budget coming-of-age comedy starring a bunch of fresh faces, with zero A-list names on the poster, quietly became the highest-grossing Malayalam film in Kerala’s box office history. That’s the Vaazha 2 story, and it’s as real as it gets.

The Savin Da directorial has now officially wrapped its theatrical run, closing at approximately **Rs 127.75 crore gross in Kerala** — and it’s still got a few lakh rupees left before heading to its digital debut on **Jio Hotstar** this coming weekend.

### What Made Vaazha 2 Such a Massive Hit?

The film stars **Hashir, Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy, and Vinayak** — all newcomers — and was written by Vipin Das. Yet it delivered one of the most jaw-dropping box office runs in [Malayalam cinema](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayalam_cinema) history, becoming the biggest-ever grosser in Kerala, surpassing the previous record holder Lokah Chapter One: Chandra.

Its Week 1 alone — Rs 57.20 crore — was extraordinary for a film of this scale. The drop was natural and healthy, and it only slowed down significantly in Week 5 when the Mammootty-Mohanlal starrer Patriot entered theatres.

The return on investment is staggering: mounted on just Rs 13 crore, Vaazha 2 earned over Rs 250 crore globally. That’s a profit margin most big-budget productions can only dream of.

Good news for fans: **Vaazha 3 has already been officially announced.**
