One of the biggest Bollywood vs Telugu clashes of 2026 is days away, and the director at the centre of it is remarkably calm about it all. Director Harish Shankar has broken his silence on Ustaad Bhagat Singh locking horns with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 — and his answer is both humble and thought-provoking.

## What Did Harish Shankar Actually Say?

The director didn’t dodge the question — he answered it with surprising grace. Speaking to Gulte, Harish Shankar said, “Aditya Dhar is a superior filmmaker. We are not really competing on a pan-India level. Also, the release date is not in my hands.” [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimson_Desert)

Trade circles say the real clash will begin only after the films hit the big screens — opening day numbers are just the beginning and the real strength lies in word of mouth.

## How Did the Clash Happen?

Ustaad Bhagat Singh’s release date was moved forward after Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was postponed to June 2026, opening up a key Ugadi window slot that the makers of Ustaad Bhagat Singh were quick to claim. ## Who Has the Advantage?

In Telugu states, Pawan Kalyan is one of the biggest stars and Ustaad Bhagat Singh will be taking a mind-blowing opening — but Telugu states have enough screens to accommodate both films comfortably. [Pearl Abyss](https://crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com/en-US/News/Notice)

If Ustaad manages to get strong positive talk, even the Dhurandhar 2 wave may not stop it given Pawan Kalyan’s massive stardom. But if the talk turns negative, Dhurandhar 2 may quickly fill the vacuum in the Telugu market.

## What Makes Ustaad Bhagat Singh Special?

The film reportedly follows the story of a tribal boy raised with strong morals and unwavering courage by a teacher who names him Bhagat Singh — a man who stands firmly against injustice despite overwhelming odds. [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimson_Desert) Director Harish Shankar has also confirmed there will be no item song — instead, every song will maintain Pawan Kalyan’s dignified heroic image on screen.
