UEFA Champions League Round of 16 draw which was later declared void

  • Benfica vs Real Madrid
  • Villarreal vs Manchester City
  • Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich
  • Salzburg vs Liverpool
  • Inter Milan vs Ajax
  • Sporting Lisbon vs Juventus
  • Chelsea vs Lille
  • Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester United

However, a controversy arose. During Atletico Madrid’s draw with Bayern Munich, Manchester United’s ball was not in the pot. Atletico could have drawn United as well and United could have avoided PSG so early in the tournament.

So UEFA decided to conduct the draw again.

Round of 16 first legs: February 15/16/22/23

Round of 16 second legs: March 8/9/15/16

PSG was drawn against Manchester United in the first draw, which was then declared void. In the latest UCL Round of 16 draw, PSG have been drawn against Real Madrid. The record UCL winners will face the trio of Messi-Neymar-Mbappe so early in the knockout stage. This will be the most exciting fixture of this round.

A major change that will be observed from the Round of 16 matches is that the away goals rule will not be implemented for the first time. If the aggregate score is tied after the 90 minutes of the second leg, the match will head into extra time, irrespective of the number of away goals scored by the teams.
