The low level of sales in March and April is a reason for investigating the reasons for this decline. As for the company’s own sibling – the Punch, this factor seems quite credible. Moreover, a new competitor on the market, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, has been recently introduced to the market and its list of segment-first features is long. Therefore, it seems the company has a strong competitor, and therefore soon Tata Motors will introduce an updated Nexon to make the car more competitive.
The Upcoming Tata Nexon
Particularly, Mahindra has now received a lot of attention and bookings due to the introduction of the XUV 3XO with a panoramic sunroof. Tata Nexon’s panoramic sunroof appears to be of similar size to that of the XUV 3XO, with minor differences that are unlikely to be noticeable to most users. Even though the sunroof stretches to the C pillars, the headroom remains limited to the vicinity of the B pillars, similar to the XUV 3XO.
However, the rear passengers may enjoy the sunroof comfortably. Currently, the Nexon comes with a single-pane voice-assisted electric sunroof, while the panoramic sunroof should be available in the top-spec variants. Tata may, however, be required to introduce more features to the Nexon to be on par with the XUV 3XO. Such features include premium features such as Level 2 ADAS, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, smart steering modes, and dual-zone climate control.
While the XUV 3XO offers rear AC vents as standard across all variants and features soft-touch leatherette on the dashboard and door trims, the Nexon boasts its own specialties such as ventilated leatherette seats, a feature not available in the XUV 3XO.
Due to the recent decline in sales, expect Tata Motors to launch the Nexon with a panoramic sunroof soon. Furthermore, due to the upcoming festive season, Tata will take the chance to offer the new Nexon. The panoramic sunroof variant will probably be priced from ₹16-17 lakh. The vehicle will be offered with 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines producing 120 PS/170 Nm and 115 PS/260 Nm, respectively while being paired with 5MT, 6MT, 6AMT, and 7DCA for the petrol engine and 6MT, 6AMT for diesel.
