Kunchacko Boban is back with something genuinely unsettling. “Unmadham,” his new mystery thriller, hit theaters on July 31, and Twitter (now X) is already buzzing with split reactions — some calling it a gripping psychological ride, others feeling it loses steam midway.

The film follows Shelly, an officer wrestling with personal turmoil who reopens a decades-old case — only to be pulled into a mystery that blurs the line between truth and illusion. As the investigation deepens, Shelly’s grip on reality starts slipping, turning the hunt for answers into a psychological spiral.

Here’s what audiences are saying:

- Several viewers praised the film’s crime-mystery core, calling the screenplay tight and Kunchacko Boban’s performance a standout, with first-time director Kiran Das earning early praise too.
- One reviewer felt the story held strong until the interval but lost momentum in the second half, rating it 2/5.
- Others appreciated how the narrative blends crime, psychological drama, and horror-adjacent elements, though a few found the pacing uneven in the first half.
- The background score and cinematography were repeatedly singled out as elevating the overall watch.
