## What Makes UI Movie Special?

Upendra’s first directorial venture in nearly a decade isn’t your typical [action thriller](https://www.technosports.co.in/category/movies/). As reported by [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UI_(film)), this dystopian sci-fi features groundbreaking technology previously used in Avatar: The Way of Water. The production team created an entire 10-acre city set and employed VR-Mocobot technology—making it the first Asian film to use Industrial Light & Magic’s creation tech.

The **UI movie** stars Upendra in a triple role as Satya, Kalki, and Upendra Rao himself. The narrative explores the psychological conflict between brothers Satya (representing truth) and Kalki Bhagavan (a self-proclaimed deity seeking revenge). Supporting cast includes Reeshma Nanaiah, Murali Sharma, and comedian Sadhu Kokila as the Joker.

## Critical Reception

Set in a surrealistic dystopian world, the film examines power misuse and technological overreach. Times Now gave it 4/5, praising how Upendra “compresses a decade of philosophical musings” into this project. India Today lauded its “socio-political commentary blended with satire,” while Deccan Herald called it quintessential “director Upendra genre”—expect metaphor-heavy storytelling that polarizes audiences.

## Technical Achievement

Composer B. Ajaneesh Loknath’s score elevates the dystopian atmosphere, while the production involved 3D scanning Upendra using 200+ DSLR cameras. Produced by Lahari Films and Venus Entertainers with a ₹100 crore budget, it’s one of Kannada cinema’s most expensive ventures.
