Despite an outbreak of Covid-19 at Tottenham Hotspur, the Europa Conference League match against Rennes is scheduled to go ahead as planned. According to a story published earlier on Tuesday, numerous Spurs players and staff members got positive lateral flow tests and would be subjected to PCR tests on Tuesday.

The Covid Outbreak

The outbreak put both the game against Rennes and the Premier League trip to Brighton on Sunday in jeopardy. However, while the results of the PCR testing have not yet been released, Uefa has told BBC Sport that the Rennes game will not be postponed.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a youth team in the Conference League, but the severity of the outbreak is unknown.

According to Uefa rules, if they have 13 available players from their 25-man A list, including a goalkeeper, they must play the Rennes match, which they must win to qualify for the final 32. If they do not have enough players, the game may be postponed, but all group matches must be finished by December 31.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Players Confirmed Positive

Antonio Conte has confirmed a Covid-19 epidemic in his Tottenham Hotspur club, with eight players testing positive.

Conte told reporters ahead of his team’s Europa Conference League match against Rennes on Thursday: “Eight players and five members of staff but the problem is that every day we’re having people with Covid, people that yesterday weren’t positive and today are and we’re continuing to have contact with. It’s a serious problem.”
