The final day of the Champions League group stages is here, and so is the final chance to make it to the knockout stages. Here is what every team needs to do to take the chance and progress to the last 16.
Group A: Manchester City, PSG, RB Leipzig, Club Brugge
City and PSG are through as the winners of the group with 12 & 8 points respectively.
Leipzig and Brugge are both on 4 points. If one team wins and the other draws, the winning team makes it to the Europa League.
And in case one draws and the other loses, the team that drew earns third place.
Group B: Liverpool, Porto, Milan, Atletico Madrid
Liverpool have already qualified for the next round. But, Milan, Porto and Atletico Madrid are very close in terms of contention.
Atletico will qualify if they win and Milan draw or lose.
Milan will go through if Porto vs Atletico ends in a draw and they win vs Liverpool.
Porto have the best chance, with 5 points, and only need to draw and hope that Milan don’t win.
Group C: Ajax, Sporting Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund, Besiktas
Ajax are the winners of the group with a perfect record so far, and are joined by Sporting. Borussia Dortmund have fallen down to the Europa League, and Besiktas are already out.
Group D: Real Madrid, Inter, Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Sheriff
Shakhtar Donetsk are out of European competition. Sheriff Tiraspol have confirmed their place in the Europa League.
Real Madrid (12) and Inter Milan (10) are through to the round of 16, but their final game against each other will determine who finishes first.
Group E: Bayern Munich , FC Barcelona, Benfica, Dynamo Kyiv
Bayern Munich are through to the next round, while Dynamo Kiev are confirmed fourth.
Barcelona (7) and Benfica (5) are battling it out for the second spot. If Benfica don’t beat Kiev Barca are through even if they lose.
And if Barca lose, and Benfica win, the Portuguese team is through.
Group F: Manchester United, Villarreal, Atalanta, Young Boys
Manchester United are through to the round of 16. Villarreal (7) and Atalanta (6) will battle it out for the second spot in their game against each other. If Villarreal win or draws they are through while Atalanta are third.
On the other hand, if Atalanta lose to Villarreal and Young Boys win against Manchester United, they can finish third.
Group G: Wolfsburg, LOSC Lille, Salzburg, Sevilla
This group is an absolute mess.
Lille hold the advantage with 8 points. If they avoid defeat against Wolfsburg, they are through to the round of 16.
Salzburg (7) need to win or draw against Sevilla to qualify. If they win and Lille doesn’t, then they are finishing first.
Sevilla (6) must win against Salzburg if they are to go through. They also have the opportunity to finish first if Lille lose.
Wolfsburg (5) can go through if they win against Lille. Amazingly, they can also finish first if the other game ends in a draw.
Group H: Chelsea, Juventis, Zenit, Malmo
Chelsea and Juventus are both through to the round of 16, while Zenit are confirmed in the Europa League. Malmo are last in the group and are out of European competition.
