This time, Manchester United slumped to a surprise 2-1 defeat against Istanbul Basaksehir, with their only goal coming through Martial in the first half, and the second half completely void of any successful chances.

RB Leipzig 2-1 Paris Saint-Germain

Thomas Tuchel endured a difficult return to Germany as he lost to his apprentice’s team, RB Leipzig in a replay from last season’s Champions League semi-final.

The French Champions were without most of their star players in Mbappe, Neymar and Veratti and were further reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute when Idrissa Gueye got sent off.

Christopher Nkunku scored against his former team to put the German club ahead in the first half and Emil Forsberg converted a penalty in the 57th minute to give Leipzig a two-goal cushion.

Real Madrid 3-2 Inter Milan

Coming off a disappointing first two games in this season’s Champions League, Los Blancos managed to get a much-needed win against the Nerazzurri to put them in third place in their group.

Sergio Ramos managed to make history by netting his 100th goal for the club to put him among the highest scorers of the club.

Lautaro Martinez and Ivan Perisic managed to pull things back for Antonio Conte’s team, but eventually, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr combined to snatch all three points for Real.

Shakhtar Donetsk 0-6 Borussia Mönchengladbach

The foals managed to thrash the Ukrainian club and put their run of decent form against Real and Inter to an instant halt.

Alassane Plea managed to net a hat-trick for the German club, while Lars Stindl and Ramey Bensebaini provided another couple to put Marco Rose’s team 6 goals in front.

Best Player: Diogo Jota – Liverpool

Diogo Jota has been Liverpool’s best signing this summer and has been amongst the most impactful newbies in the Premier League with 7 goals for the Premier League Champions already.

His hat-trick against Atalanta in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory against the Serie A side has now added heavyweight to the Portuguese forward’s hopes of breaking into the front three ahead of Bobby Firminho.
