Assassin’s Creed Shadows Year 1 Roadmap: New Game+, DLC, Story Expansions & More Revealed by Ubisoft
The company revealed these plans in a four-and-a-half-minute update video released today, giving fans a definitive glimpse at what to expect in the months of May and June. The update provides a roadmap for Ubisoft’s plans to keep players engaged with free updates and events over the coming year.
Starting early this month is The Works of Luis Frois, the first of several free story expansions. In addition to this, players will be receiving an improved Codex, quality of life changes, new parkour techniques, and an expanded photo mode. According to Ubisoft, these changes are largely based on player feedback, and they are a part of its company-wide commitment to community-focussed development.
“Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released,” said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. He also confirmed that regular updates will continue, bringing meaningful new features and fixes based on player input.
June’s update will continue to build on this momentum, introducing a second free story drop, new difficulty settings, new gameplay immersion options, including an open-world alarm system, upgrades for photo mode, and the option to hide various pieces of headgear in cut scenes. It comes in response to feedback from players in the community and is designed to increase player choice and difficulty.
Later in the year, Ubisoft plans to roll out even more features, including New Game+, additional story content, special in-game collaborations, and more. The highlight of the roadmap is Claws of Awaji, the game’s first full-fledged DLC expansion. Though its release date hasn’t been specified, it promises roughly 10 hours of new gameplay, introducing the Bo staff weapon and a new region to explore with protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. Pricing remains unknown, but it will be free for players who pre-ordered the game before its launch.
