Manchester United have hijacked Lyon’s signing of Tyrell Malacia, and are now in pole position to complete the deal. The player had a verbal agreement in place with the French side, but it now seems that he will be joining the Premier League side instead.

The 22-year-old is yet to give the green light for the transfer, and if he does agree to it, he would become the first new signing of the summer for the Red Devils.

Manchester United close to signing Tyrell Malacia

The Feyenoord left-back will cost Manchester United a transfer fee worth €15 million plus €2 million in add-ons. The deal is apparently in the final stages, and the youngster has the same agents as that of Frenkie De Jong, who is also on the verge of a move to Old Trafford.

Tyrell Malacia made 31 league appearances for Feyenoord this past season, scoring one goal and providing four assists. He also started the final of the Europa Conference League against Roma, which the Serie A side eventually ended up winning.

With all the buzz over Frenkie De Jong and Antony, it will be a surprise for many Manchester United fans to see such quick progression for the Tyrell Malacia deal. Especially given that Alex Telles and Luke Shaw are already playing in that position, it throws the future of both players up in the air given that a younger and fresher alternative is arriving at the club.
