Indian Premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals made an official announcement of signing Dubai Expo as their principal sponsor for the IPL 2020 in March. The sponsorship deal was one of the biggest deals for the Royals.
Dubai Expo was going to pay Rs 22 crores to Rajasthan Royals. But the Coronavirus pandemic has affected the whole world and Dubai Expo was also financially hit. So according to a report by InsideSport earlier, Dubai Expo pulled out from the deal with Rajasthan Royals.
The IPL side was on the lookout for a new sponsor and on 27th August they have announced their new principal sponsor. TV9 Bharatvarsh, one of India’s leading Hindi news networks, has signed up as the principal sponsor of Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2020.

Although TV9 will be playing the Royals 55-60% less than Dubai Expo but finding a sponsor in this time of crisis is a hard task. Rajasthan Royals will now wear TV9’s logo on the front of the team’s jersey in IPL 2020.
Jake Lush McCrum, Rajasthan Royals’ COO said: “We’re happy to have TV9 on board with us at Rajasthan Royals this season. It’s one of the most well-renowned networks across India and presents a fantastic opportunity for us to express the story and the culture of Rajasthan Royals to a wider audience.”
“TV9 is deeply integrated in different regions across India, enabling us to give our fans and cricket fans in general in these locations curated, exclusive content. Our Royals Family will grow, while our content will help TV9’s already large viewership scale even further. We are delighted with the synergies in this partnership.”.
Barun Das, CEO, TV9 Network said: “Cricket is not just a sport in India. It’s a religion. That’s why the TV9 Network, India’s largest news network, has partnered with Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). The meteoric rise of our national Hindi news channel TV9 Bharatvarsh to the No. 2 position shows that the news viewers not just expect but reward innovation in their daily news experience.”.
