The ongoing semiconductor shortage is affecting tech giants worldwide, and most tech companies have their eyes set on the company called Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. The reason behind this being the company’s most sought after technology of 5nm process nodes.

The advancements made by TSMC in its processing technology is the reason it has reached the top spot as the biggest chip manufacturing company in the world-beating Intel. However, the current demand means that TSMC has its hands full with orders. According to recent reports, TSMCs 3nm process node orders have already been completely booked.

We have already heard rumours that Apple has the biggest order for TSMC for its 5nm process nodes. The rumours also state that Qualcomm relies on the South Korean giant’s 4nm technology to mass-produce the upcoming Snapdragon 898. However, since TSMC is busy with outsourcing chips for Apple and AMD, Qualcomm had to switch to Samsung to mass-produce the Snapdragon 888.

According to recent sources, TSMCs N5P node, an advanced version of the earlier released 5nm technology, will most probably be used to mass-produce the A15 Bionic, which will power the iPhone 13 series. It is also rumoured that Apple has already placed an order for 100 million A15 Bionic shipments, hence TSMC having its hands full.

There are also rumours going around stating that Qualcomm may soon switch to TSMC’s 4nm technology for the Snapdragon 898 Plus in late 2022, but for now, those reports will only come true if TSMC has room to accommodate such orders. Its also being speculated that the chip manufacturer will be involved in Googles upcoming Tensor SoC.
