Truecaller has started to release its fresh update for iPhone users with spam call blocking and real-time caller ID which was previously limited only to Android. With those tools, Apple is enhancing the experience of placing and answering calls on iPhones — assisting users in finding out who is calling them and avoiding scams.

Truecaller Adds Real-Time Caller ID and Spam Blocking Features for iPhone Users with Latest Update

The real-time caller ID feature allows callers’ name and their likely locations to be displayed alongside the incoming call so that users can see who’s calling before answering. Also, this function shows if the call is from a person whose number is stored in the user addresses. Spam call identification, on the contrary, allows users to identify and then block unwanted calls in real-time including robocalls and suspected fraudulent numbers, and offers users an extra layer of protection from telemarketers and scams.

These capabilities follow the introduction of Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup framework in iOS 18, aimed at improving identifying callers on the platform. Truecaller’s top features will only be available in a gradual rollout including the world for Premium subscribers in the next few weeks. In India, the Truecaller Premium subscription is priced at ₹99 monthly or ₹899 yearly. This is the first significant update since Truecaller’s co-founders Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam took over the day-to-day operations of the company in November 2024. These developments are being helmed by the company’s new chief executive officer, Rishit Jhunjhunwala.

iPhone users must first download Truecaller version 14 or above from the App Store to enable the Real-time Caller ID and spam call detection feature. Now launch the app and head to the Settings app on the iPhone, and tap on the “Apps” section. Then tap on the “Phone” and select “Call Blocking and Identification” and turn all Truecaller switches on. Once this setup is done, users can go to the Truecaller app, activate the changes, and use the new features.
