A cargo of Nintendo Switch 2 was stolen on its way from Nintendo’s headquarters in Washington, all the way to a GameStop in Texas. The truck carrying the consignment was looted before entering the city, and 2,810 of the units were stolen, valued at a little less than $1.4 million (about ₹11.7 crore).

Nearly 3,000 Nintendo Switch 2 Units Stolen During Truck Transit from Washington to Texas
The incident was discovered in Bennett, Colorado, where the truck was parked at a Love’s Truck Stop. The driver conducting a pre-drive walk-around determined the semi-truck had been burglarized.
The driver said he did not know what the trailer contained, only that it was filled with games or toys, according to ABC Denver 7. Nobody knows the who, what, when, where, or how of the theft and investigations taking place. Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to contact the authorities at 720-874-8477.
Until the consoles are recovered, these nearly 3,000 stolen units won’t be included in Nintendo’s official sales totals. The theft comes just as the Nintendo Switch 2 enjoys a wildly successful launch.
In just the first four days, global sales hit 3.5 million units, with 1.1 million units sold in the United States alone during the console’s first week. The Switch 2 is currently selling at twice the pace of the original model when it launched, pointing to high demand and strong consumer interest.
The robbery has, however, caused delays for some customers, particularly those in Texas who were expecting to buy from this now-missing shipment. Nintendo is reportedly planning to restock soon, but the event has left questions about the safety of high-value tech shipments during high-traffic times of launch windows. With the Switch 2 setting records and expected to sell more than 16m of units in 2025, this has been a costly and unfortunate blow during an otherwise successful launch window.
