A Tribute to KK: Some unknown Facts and Achievements of KK

Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK has passed away yesterday i.e. on 31st May 2022 after his live concert in Kolkata. He was born on 23rd August 1968 in Delhi, and further born and brought up in Delhi itself. He was the most underrated singer in the Bollywood Industry with the maximum number of hit songs without many awards. He studied at Delhi St Mary’s School and graduated from Kirori Mal College.

Some Unknown Facts about KK

KK before joining the Bollywood industry sang almost 3500 jingles for the advertisement. He has sung jingles in 11 languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujrati. He has never undergone any professional or formal music training. KK’s debut album is titled, Pal. He made his film debut with A.R. Rahman’s song named Kalluri Saaley and “Hello Dr.” from Kadir’s Kadhal Desam and then “Strawberry Kannae” from AVM Productions’ musical film Minsara Kanavu (1997).

He has made his Bollywood debut with the song “Tadap Tadap” from the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Although before this he had sung a small portion of the song “Chhod Aaye Hum” from Gulzar’s Maachis (1996). KK’s last song was yet to be released for Srijit Mukherjee’s film, Sherdil.

Achievements

As mentioned earlier in this article, he was the most underrated artist in the Bollywood Industry with maximum blockbuster songs with nominal awards. He received Kanada Filmfare Award in the year 2010 as a Best Playback Singer- Male. In 2009, he has won the Filmfare Award for the song Khuda Jaane as a Best Playback Singer-Male. Although he has won two awards only, he has been nominated for many songs.

His most famous songs are Khuda Jaane, Ankhon Mein Teri, Dil Ibadat, Tu Jo mila, Beetein Lamhein, Tadap Tadap ke, Yaaron, Alvida, Labon Ko, Tu hi Meri Shab hai, and many more.

Although he has died, he will always be remembered for his songs. He belongs to a generation of 90’s kids, where he has delivered innumerable songs that one can relate to in every situation of life. He will be immortal in the hearts of every fan.
