Toyota: Urban Crusier Hyryder | First Look | Features and Design | Predicted Launch and Pricing

With the introduction of the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Toyota India has, at last, entered the Indian market’s mid-size SUV competition. The Toyota-Suzuki alliance’s first vehicle to be jointly designed from the ground up. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which is set to go on sale in the coming months, will be the first vehicle in its sector to have a hybrid drivetrain.

About the Toyota Hyryder

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder has split headlamps, a first for a Toyota car. A broad blanked-off grille with a distinctive carbon-fiber design and a thin chrome horizontal slat that runs to the LED DRLs dominate the front of the car. A sizable trapezoidal grille with a gloss black mesh pattern and a silver bash plate is located in the center of the front bumper.

Wide side windows and a sizable rear quarter glass give the Hyryder the appearance of being longer when viewed from the side. Then there are the 17-inch dual-tone swirl-shaped alloy wheels, which are covered in significant amounts of plastic cladding and housed in squared wheel arches.

Moving to the back, the chrome bar and C-shaped sleek split LED tail lamps to give it a tidy and appealing appearance. The reverse lights and turn indicators are situated on the rear bumper in a distinctive vertical configuration, while the number plate recess is mounted on the boot.

The Hyryder has the following dimensions: a length of 4,365mm, a width of 1,795mm, and a wheelbase of 2,600mm. Café White, Enticing Silver, Sporting Red, Midnight Black, Speedy Blue, Cave Black, and Gaming Grey are among the exterior color options. The red, silver, blue, and white hues will additionally be offered with a striking black roof.

Inside the Model

When you enter the interior, you are met by a nicely organized dashboard with a black and brown finish. However, other components, including the HVAC system, door handles, power window switches, and touchscreen infotainment system, are the same as those found on the most recent Maruti Suzuki models.

The dashboard and door pads are soft-touch materials utilized by Toyota, giving the interior a high-end and luxurious impression. Large front seats with robust side bolsters should make for a comfortable driving position.

The absence of electronic adjustment on the driver-side seat, which is quite typical for SUVs in the market, is unfortunate. Nevertheless, the sliding center armrest with a storage compartment, the glovebox, and the seatback pockets all increase the cabin’s usability.

The back seats then have a reclining feature and may be divided 60:40. Additionally, each of the three passengers is provided with a personal headrest, an armrest with two cupholders, and air conditioning vents.

To keep clutter at bay, all four doors have bottle holders and little storage spaces on the door pads. The bottom of the boot isn’t flat, though. Instead, it has a tiny bump from the electric motor underneath.

Features and Others

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is a well-equipped SUV that comes in four different versions: E, S, G, and V. The dashboard-mounted nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system now supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and voice commands from Siri and Google. The leather-wrapped steering wheel controls the seven-inch digital instrument cluster while the front seats are cooled.

A heads-up display, a huge panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ambient lighting, an Arkamys sound system, cruise control, and an air purifier are some of the other highlights of the cabin.

Customers will also have access to over 55 connected car functions thanks to the integration of Toyota i-Connect, including remote ignition on/off, vehicle lock/unlock, remote AC control, geofencing, vehicle tracking, and more.

With a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts for every passenger, hill-hold and descent control, disc brakes on all four wheels, and six airbags, the Hyryder checks off nearly all the essential passive safety features.

Looking Under the Hood

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder hopes to amaze customers with its engine. Customers will thus have two alternatives for hybrid engines. The first is the well-known 1.5-liter K-Series petrol engine from Maruti Suzuki.

A six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and a five-speed manual transmission will be coupled to this motor, which will have an output of 101 bhp and 135 nm of torque. The latter will also be provided with an all-wheel-drive option in this situation.

The Toyota 1.5-liter TNGA, which pairs with an electric motor, is the real star, though. The electric motor produces 79 horsepower, compared to 91 bhp from the gasoline engine. This hybrid setup produces 114 horsepower and 141 Nm of maximum torque combined. The front wheels are the only ones to receive power from the engine, though.

Launch Date and Pricing

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is now available for Rs 25,000 in reservations. The SUV will start production at the automaker’s Bidadi, Karnataka, facility the following month. It is anticipated to be released in the next months at a price between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Toyota will now compete with vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, and Skoda Kushaq thanks to the Hyryder. Additionally, the Honda City e:HEV sedan will serve as the second hybrid alternative to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
