Tottenham to fine Lo Celso, Romero and Sanchez for international duty

Tottenham have decided to fine the Argentinian duo of Giovanni Lo Celso and Cristian Romero, who linked up with the national team squad for the World Cup qualifiers.

According to reports, the two players did not have the permission of the club to leave on international duty. Last month, all the Premier League clubs agreed that they would not allow any players to travel to South America to play for their national teams since they are on the red list of the UK and vice versa.

Lo Celso and Romero would not be able to play the game against Brazil to a conclusion. Although they were selected by Lionel Scaloni in the starting lineup, Brazil’s health officials from Anvisa invaded the pitch and prevented the match from going through.

The two are now expected to fly to Croatia and undergo a 10-day quarantine and will be fined accordingly by their club upon their return to London. Davinson Sanchez of Colombia also did the same, and he will face punishment for his actions along with a trip to Croatia where he will also be in quarantine.

Emiliano Martinez and Emi Buendia of Aston Villa were given permission to play for Argentina by their club, but they too, were under attack by the health officials due to them not quarantining for a set number of days upon entry into Brazil.

Spurs are expected to avoid punishment from the Premier League since they haven’t technically broken any rules.
