Tottenham have agreed on personal terms with Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero. The player has been offered a five-year deal by the London club, and despite rumours that he has turned them down, he has agreed to the terms offered.

Atalanta and Tottenham are still in talks for the player, and are yet to reach an agreement for the transfer. While personal terms being agreed is a positive, the agreement between the clubs is crucial for the transfer to go through.

The Serie A club have asked for €55 million for Romero, and it is unclear right now whether Spurs will match that valuation. The Argentina international recently won the Copa America with his national team, and was named the defender of the 20/21 season in Italy ahead of numerous established players. There were rumours that Davinson Sanchez was to be included in the deal for Romero, but those are not true and the deal offered will be a simple transfer.

Atalanta keeper Peterluigi Gollini has already travelled to London to complete his medicals and sign the contract that will see him join Tottenham. Romero could become the second player to make the switch from Bergamo to London this summer, but an agreement between the two clubs is necessary for the transfer to go through.

Tottenham recently closed the deal involving Erik Lamela and Bryan Gil swapping clubs. They will pay Sevilla €25 million along with the Argentinian winger going the other way.
