Dennis Praet is all set to join Serie A club Torino from Leicester City. The player will move to Turin on an initial loan deal with the option to make the transfer permanent for €15 million.
The Belgian has passed his medicals and will be unveiled as a new player for them in the hours to come. Praet has been struggling for game time in the last season, and is eager to seal a move away where he can get regular playing time on the pitch.
As a result, Torino have stepped up and completed the move for their 27-year-old target. The Belgian international moving to Serie A means that Torino will not go forth with their pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat anymore. They had been scouting the Hellas Verona player after an impressive first season in Serie A but no longer require his services.
Praet has experience of life and football in Italy, having made over 100 appearances for Sampdoria between 2016 and 2019. He then moved to Leicester for €19 million and has won the FA Cup with them, beating Chelsea at Wembley Stadium earlier this year.
Praet has made 13 appearances for the Belgian national team, scoring once. He is valued at €18 million on the transfer market, and the fact that Torino have managed to negotiate a buy option with 3 years of contract remaining under his market value is a remarkable piece of business.
