  1. Youngest Player to Win 4 Ballon d’Ors

Lionel Messi is the youngest player to win 4 Ballon d’Ors, the most prestigious individual award in football. He won his 4th Ballon d’Or in 2012, aged 25 years, 6 months, and 15 days. He won the award four times consecutively! This record is something that is going to be impossible for Kylian Mbappe as he is 22 already while being extraordinarily difficult for Erling Haaland.

  1. 20+ Goals in the League for 12 Straight Seasons

As Cristiano Ronaldo crossed the 20 goal mark in Serie A this season, it concluded a 12th straight season in which he scored 20+ goals in league football. He is the first player to achieve such a record. It gets even better if you add all competitions, which makes it 16 straight seasons in which he has scored 10+ goals.

  1. Most Goals in a Calendar Year.

An absolutely outrageous record set by Messi is the most goals scored in a calendar year. From 1st January 2012 to 31st December 2012, Messi scored an insane 91 goals in all competitions. 79 for Barcelona and 12 for Argentina. Gerd Müller held the record previously since 1972 when scored 85 goals for Bayern Munich and West Germany.

  1. Scoring 50 Goals in a Season 6 Times in a Row

Another insane goalscoring record, this time by CR7. From 2010-11 to 2015-16 (his Real Madrid years), Ronaldo scored 50 goals a season, every season. This establishes the fact that he was a lethal finisher consistently.

  1. Playing Back to Back Seasons with 60 Goals Minimum

By now you would have understood that these guys are goal-machines and nothing below that. This time the consistent scoring record is Messi’s. He is the only player to score a minimum of 60 goals for back-to-back seasons. He scored 73 goals in the 2011-12 season and netted 60 times the next season.

  1. Scoring 50 Goals in 3 Different Leagues

This one, obviously Ronaldo’s record, is a sign of the versatility the Portuguese striker possesses. He has scored more than 50 goals in three different leagues, the English Premier League, the Spanish La Liga, and the Italian Serie A. 84 goals with Manchester United, 311 with Real Madrid, and 79 goals with Juventus.

  1. Consecutive Number of Games With a Goal in The League

This is another record that was held by Gerd Müller for centuries and broken by Messi. In the 2012-13 season, Messi managed to score in 21 games in a row. He scored 33 goals in 21 games. Gerd Müller scored 22 goals in 16 consecutive games for Bayern Munich in 1970.

  1. UEFA Champions League Top-Scorer for 6 Straight Seasons

Often referred to as Mr. Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo has made many records in the UCL including being the top scorer (overall and single-season) and top assist giver. He was the UCL’s Top-Scorer for six straight seasons from 2012-13 to 2017-18.
