Youngsters in football are one of the most exciting parts of the sport since they ultimately go on to become the stars of the future. So, here are the top five youngsters who are set to have a breakout season in 2021-22:
Karim Adeyemi: RB Salzburg
Salzburg has produced some incredible talents in the last few years alone, with the likes of Erling Haaland, Patson Daka and Dominik Szoboszlai coming through the Austrian club. Adeyemi is quick and strong and at 21, will be the next big player to come out of the club.
Samuele Ricci: Empoli
The Empoli academy graduate is expected to be the next big midfielder to come out of Italy, so much so that he might not be playing for Empoli next year. The Italy U21 international is a defensive-minded midfielder and has great technique and vision.
Devyne Rensch: Ajax
Operating as a centre-back, Rensch is a 19-year-old who has shown incredible potential on the ball, especially as a defender. The player might be small in stature but makes up for it in physicality.
Mikkel Damsgaard: Sampdoria
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder had an impressive Euros with Denmark and has shown great technique, vision and shooting ability. He is all set to have a great campaign in Italy this year and potentially move to a bigger club soon.
Yusuf Demir: Barcelona
Demir was initially signed for the Barcelona B team but has broken into the first team under Koeman. His loan deal will soon be made permanent, and his impressive dribbling skills and passing range make him a surefire star for the Blaugrana in the years to come.
