Power Forwards are the strong men of an NBA team. They play a vital role, in being the ‘bully’ for the team. Picking up game-winning rebounds and some post-move buckets, is usually what they do.
Here’s our ranking of the top power forwards from this NBA season, from 5-1.
5. Draymond Green – Golden State Warriors
2019-2020 Stats: 8.0 PPG, 6.2 APG, 6.2 RPG
Do not judge this man on the basis of his last year’s stats. He was a victim of injuries and on an injured-laden Warriors team, which saw some star players out the whole season – Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Green is a former Defensive Player of the Year, who has a great role as a mentor too for upcoming talents. He continues to give his heart, blood and soul to the organisation and is ready to give his body every time he plays on the floor. What more does a team want from a player? He is back on a team led by him and Stephen Curry this season, who hope to stop the embarrassment the team faced last season.
4. Zion Williamson – New Orleans Pelicans
2019-2020 Stats: 22.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.1 APG
There is no denying that the young 20-year old Zion Williamson is undoubtedly the most hyped player entering the league since LeBron James. Zion entered the league with a lot of expectations on him and a lot of people to prove wrong too. It took him little to none time to mark his presence on the league. He averaged berserk numbers and stats, which no one has ever done before. This year, the organisation has more confidence in him. He also doesn’t have any minutes restrictions, which means we get to see more what this young prodigy has to offer. Hopefully, for the Pelicans’ fans, Zion will remain healthy the whole course of the season and help Pelicans secure a playoff berth that they couldn’t last season.
3. Pascal Siakam – Toronto Raptors
2019-2020 Stats: 22.9 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 3.5 APG
A former Most Improved Player, Pascal Siakam is the leader of a title-contending Toronto team. He made his first All-Star team last year, after having the best season of his career so far. He was an integral part of the Raptors back in 2019 when they won the NBA Championship, which means he has the experience to lead the team to success.
Alongside with Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry and a few new acquisitions, the Toronto Raptors team looks very dangerous to play against.
2. Anthony Davis – Los Angeles Lakers
2019-2020 Stats: 26.1 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 3.2 APG
Any team to have this 7-time All-Star is a title-contending team. Anthony Davis had an immediate impact on the Lakers team last year, helping them win a championship in the first year with them. Playing alongside, LeBron James has and will continue to bring the bet out of Davis. Davis has a very impressive resume and has the right tools, potential and experience to lead the team to back-to-back Championships. The Lakers are one tough team to give a fight to thanks to this mammoth of a player.
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo – Milwaukee Bucks
2019-2020 Stats : 29.5 PPG, 13.6 RPG, 5.6 APG
The current NBA Most Valuable Player and the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Giannis Antetokounmpo has to arguably be on top of this list. There is very little that Giannis doesn’t do for the Bucks – rebounding, scoring, blocking, assisting, stealing and even mentoring. The back-to-back MVP is projected to be a third time MVP this ear by many GMs and analysts.
Despite the poor second-round exit of the Bucks last season, the Bucks are a title-contending team because of one man – Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Other than these explosive players, players like Blake Griffin, Kevin Love and Domantas Sabonis do deserve a mention on this list.
