Top 5 players with the most La Liga hat-tricks of all-time

The La Liga is one of the biggest football leagues in the world. Some of the greatest icons in the sport have made their name in the Spanish top flight, with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the charts. In this article, we are taking a look at the players with the most hat-tricks in La Liga history. 

Most hat-tricks of all-time in La Liga 

5. Edmund Suarez – 19 

The Spanish forward featured for Valencia for 11 years between 1939 to 1950. He scored 180 goals for the club and to this day, is their top scorer of all-time. In those 11 years, he established himself as a prolific forward and also featured for Athletic Bilbao later.

4. Alfredo Di Stefano – 22 

The Real Madrid legend holds yet another record in La Liga. He is Real Madrid’s third highest goalscorer of all-time, and has scored the sixth-highest goals in the domestic league. Most of them came for Los Blancos, but he also had a brief spell with Espanyol in Spain. 

3. Telmo Zarra – 23 

Before Messi and Ronaldo, Zarra was La Liga’s leading goalscorer for six decades. Zarra scored 251 league goals in 15 years, and is the third highest goalscorer in the competition’s history. He is a club legend for Athletic Bilbao, having made most of his appearances for them. 

2. Cristiano Ronaldo – 34

The Portuguese forward won two La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies during his nine years with the club. He left in 2018 as their top scorer of all-time, with 450 goals. Of them, 102 came as hat-tricks for Los Merengues. 

1. Lionel Messi – 36 

Messi featured for Barcelona between 2007 to 2021 and has the most number of hat-tricks in the competition. He has been awarded the Pichichi Trophy on eight occasions, and is La Liga’s all-time highest goalscorer with 474 goals in 520 appearances for Barcelona.
