Most valuable national teams 2023: The men’s national teams have always attracted interest from casual fans and avid watchers during the World Cup. However, they don’t play much due to the prevalence of club football. 

The best players from each country represent their national team in elite competitions. And with that in mind, here are the most valuable national teams.

10. Netherlands – €412m 

After making it to the semi finals of the Nations League, the Netherlands are among the most valuable national teams in the world right now. Some of their most valuable players include Virgil Van Dijk, Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs De Ligt and Xavi Simons. 

9. Belgium – €511m 

Most valuable national teams 2023

On the back of their golden generation, Belgium are suffering the decline that was expected. Although the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois and Romelu Lukaku still remain, the departure of Eden Hazard will be a huge blow to the team’s ambitions going forward. 

8. Italy – €615m

After winning the 2020 Euros, Italy failed to make it to the 2022 World Cup and also missed out on the Nations League title. They are undergoing a change of guard with veterans Chiellini and Bonucci being phased out with new players coming in. They still remain one of the top squads in the world. 

7. Germany – €622m 

Germany are enduring a nightmare run in spite of being one of the top rated squads in the world. The likes of Joshua Kimmich, Florian Wirtz, Kai Havertz, Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry are among the most valuable players in the team. But, they haven’t been able to work as a cohesive unit on the pitch for a long time now. 

6. Brazil – €703m

Brazil are back on the rise in terms of their national team, and their squad value is expected to rise massively in the coming years. The likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Endrick, Antony and Andrey Santos are all expected to develop into big players for the national team, which will see their squad value rise even further. 

5. Spain – €806m

Spain won the 2023 Nations League, and have a new generation of players coming through. They endured a decline after their domination around the 2010s, but are now bouncing back and are expected to be one of the top squads in the world once again. 

4. Argentina – €859m

The reigning champions of South America and the World are the fourth most valuable national team right now. The likes of Lautaro Martinez, Enzo Fernandez, Julian Alvarez and Alexis Mac Allister are among the players with the highest market value.

Portugal are witnessing the arrival of a new golden generation, with elite players in almost every position. With Rafael Leao, Joao Felix, Bruno Fernandes, Ruben Dias and Diogo Costa, they are expected to challenge for major tournaments in the coming years.

The 2018 World Cup winners seemingly have an unlimited amount of talent at their disposal. They have multiple world class options at every position, and are particularly spoiled for strikers with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann, Randal Kolo Muani and many other players who don’t even make the team due to the abundance of talent.

The Three Lions currently have the most expensive squad in the entire world. The likes of Harry Kane, Mason Mount, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Declan Rice make them the most valuable national team in the world, and the only one to cross the billion Euro mark.
