One of Liverpool‘s best investments, the Dutch central defender has been able to solidify himself as one of the best in his position since his move. He has won every available trophy with the Reds and continues to be a formidable force in the team’s defence.

9. Romelu Lukaku – £74.5m to Man Utd

Lukaku‘s spell with Manchester United was riddled with inconsistency, on the back of a move from Everton. The Belgian spent two years with the Reds before sealing a move to Inter amidst harsh criticism over his performance.

8. Jadon Sancho – £74.8m to Man Utd

Sancho moved to Manchester United on the back of a remarkable few seasons with Borussia Dortmund. But, he has been unable to recapture his form at Old Trafford so far. The winger has found it difficult to implement his skilful style in England and has not been able to stay consistent in the starting line-up so far.

7. Harry Maguire – £76.6m to Man Utd

Maguire‘s spell with United can largely be ruled a flop, on the back of some glaring errors during his time with the club. In spite of being handed the captain’s armband, he has been unable to live up to his price tag since joining from Leicester City.

6. Antony – £83.6m to Man Utd

Antony made the move from Ajax last summer as their most expensive sale of all time. The Brazilian had a decent first season in England and is expected to mature into a much more influential player in the coming seasons.
