Lionel Messi is definitely one of the best players to ever grace the football field. The Argentine has been nothing short of wonders. He has been at the top of his game for the last decade.

He currently has 6 Ballon d’Or followed By Cristiano Ronaldo with 5 Ballon d’Or. Had these two players not been from the same generation the count would have definitely increased for both the players.

Here we take a look at the Top 10 records held by Lionel Messi which are almost impossible to break:

10. Most goals in LaLiga history

The little magician has been dominating LaLiga since his debut. He has the highest goals in LaLiga history with 450 goals for Barcelona. This record will take a long time to be broken as the second-highest goalscorer in LaLiga is Cristiano Ronaldo with 311 goals but he now plays for Juventus in Serie A.

El Classico

9. Most goals in El Clasico history

El Clasico is one of the most-watched fixtures in the game. Real Madrid and Barcelona have been fighting for dominance both in Spain and Europe for a long time. Although Ronaldo’s departure has taken some glory off the match, Messi is still dominating the El Clasico goalscoring record with 26 goals, the highest in history.

8. Most goals in a single LaLiga season

The Barcelona captain scored a humongous 50 goals in LaLiga 2011-12 season. Not even Cristiano Ronaldo could break this record during his time at Real Madrid.

7. Most goals in a calendar year

Messi was at his scintilating best in 2012. While achieving the highest number of goals in LaLiga in 2011-12 season, he went on to score 91 goals in the whole of 2012.

6. Longest goal-scoring streak in league history

Messi scored at least a goal in 21 consecutive LaLiga matches, surpassing previous record-holder Gerd Muller who scored in consecutive 16 Bundesliga matches.

5. Most goals in a single Champions League knockout match

The Barcelona stalwart scored 5 goals against Bayer Leverkusen which may never be repeated by anyone else.

4. Most consecutive Ballon d’Or wins

Messi has the highest no of Ballon d’Or, one more than Ronaldo’s tally of 5. It somewhat is still possible that Ronaldo can catch up with him given his inhumane qualities but one thing which will in all probability never be broken is Messi’s streak of 4 consecutive Ballon d’Or wins between 2009 and 2012.

3. Most consecutive years in top 3 Ballon d’Or rankings

This year’s Ballon d’Or award has been cancelled. But prior to this Messi has been in the top 3 rankings of the award for a record 11 consecutive years, winning 6 times.

2. Most European Golden Show awards

Once again it’s a battle between two of the best, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Messi has 6 while Ronaldo has 4. With age not on their sides, the pair may have to leave it here and Messi’s 6 European Golden Shoe awards may never be surpassed.

1. Most goals scored for a single club

This is one of the most recent records made by Lionel Messi. He overtook Pele’s long-standing record of 643 goals for Santos. The Argentine now has 644 goals for Barcelona. In today’s football, loyalty to one club is hard to find so this record is almost untouchable.
