Lara, who was already an established player by then, produced one of the most remarkable individual knocks of all time, becoming the only player in the history of the game to make a quadruple century. He held the previous record of 375 against England, which he had set in 1994.

Len Hutton is considered one of the most technically sound batsmen to have ever played the game. He was often referred to as the ‘head and spine’ of English batting during his playing career. The Test Series was drawn at 1-1, and in the fifth test, batting first, Hutton’s near 14-hour innings helped his team strangle the Aussies out of the game.
