Ajax, Liverpool and Bayern Munich progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League by winning all their games, and collecting 18 points from 6 games. Here are the other teams that have achieved the same feat and how they got along in their season.

AC Milan – 1992/93

The Rossoneri not only won the two legged qualifiers prior to the group stage, but also toppled IFK Goteborg, Porto and PSV Eindhoven in Group B. They would go on to the finals of the tournament before ultimately falling short against French side Marseille.

Long before they were one of the richest clubs in the world, PSG were making waves in Europe. Their group included Bayern Munich, Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Kyiv. The French club would go on to feature in the semi finals before being eliminated by AC Milan.

Spartak Moscow – 1995/96

Spartak had a relatively easy group in 1995/96, with the likes of Legia Warsaw, Rosenborg and Blackburn Rovers joining them. They made the most of the opportunity and picked up 18 points before exiting in the last eight.

Barcelona – 2002/03

The Blaugrana defeated Lokomotiv Moscow, Club Brugge and Galatasaray two times in their group to earn all 18 points. Despite emerging as strong contenders to win the title, they bowed out to the finalists, Juventus in the quarters.

A group consisting of Ajax, Lyon and Dinamo Zagreb proved to be too easy for the kings of the Champions League. They scored 19 times and only let in two. They progressed to the semi finals to face eventual finalists Bayern Munich, and were defeated on penalties.

Real Madrid – 2014/15

Los Blancos achieved the feat twice in the span of three years, defeating Basel, Ludogorets and Liverpool in the group stages to dominate. They went on to exit at the semifinals once more, against eventual finalists Juventus.

Bayern Munich – 2019/20

After their undefeated group stage performance this season, Bayern Munich have become the second team to achieve a 100% group stage record. The last time they did so, they went on to hand out a 8-2 thrashing to Barcelona and also won the trophy for a sixth time in their history.

Liverpool – 2021/22

had a very impressive performance in the group stage this season. They were drawn in a very evenly matched group consisting of Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Porto. But, Jurgen Klopp’s men were able to complete their group stage campaign with wins in all games.

Ajax became the first ever Dutch side to achieve this feat, by defeating Borussia Dortmund, Besiktas and Sporting CP in the group stages. The emergence of Sebastian Haller as a top striker is one of the driving forces behind them picking up six wins en route to the knockout stages.

Bayern Munich – 2021/22

Bayern Munich sent Barcelona down to the Europa League with their sixth win out of six in the group stage this season. They also defeated Benfica and Dynamo Kyiv twice. The Bavarians are looking like strong contenders to go ahead and win the title once again this season.
