Tomb Raider The Legend of Lara Croft: In the first-look teaser for Netflix’s upcoming anime series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, Lara Croft is back to search tombs.
Following years of gestation, the streaming provision finally unveiled the first official preview of the TV project Wednesday at its DROP 01 event, after announcing the demonstration in 2021.
Featuring the voice of Hayley Atwell, the series is built on the legendary video game series that follows Croft, a globetrotting adventurer who became a ’90s pop culture icon upon the worldwide victory of the first Tomb Raider game in 1996.

Tomb Raider The Legend of Lara Croft First Look first teaser after the show features flashes of Croft spelunking into a large cavern, shooting a projectile from a bow, uncovering mystic artifacts, and looking super moody as she stares at a photo of her friends.
“The scripts are fantastic. Besides, I’ve seen parts of the animation,” Atwell teased of the project in a July interview thru The Movie Dweeb. “It’s poignant, funny, and light, and I’ve loved doing it. I think the article they get so well is they understand the tone of it, but they’re also pushing it forward into what the fans want, but it’s a normal progression of where it could go next. I dear it.”
“With the MGM in addition to Amazon buyout, I have no clue. Now it’s kind of politics,” Vikander says, referencing Amazon’s multi-billion-dollar acquisition of MGM. “I think Misha and I have been ready, so it’s nice of in somebody else’s hands, to be honest.”
Outside of the Netflix anime Tomb Raider The Legend of Lara Croft, Alicia Vikander, who represented Croft in the 2018 blockbuster film Tomb Raider, was initially set to return for a supposed sequel. However, she told EW in 2022 that the flick was in limbo.
The Danish Girl star’s turn Croft earned $274 million at the global box office, 17 years after Angelina Jolie first carried the character to the big screen in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
There’s no official word on when fans can play as Croft in another Tomb Raider video game, with the last installment, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, freeing in 2018.
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft does not yet have a release date, though it is expected in 2024 via Netflix, Legendary, Crystal Dynamics, and Powerhouse Animation. Watch the initial teaser trailer above.
