Tom Heaton has officially completed his return to Manchester United, with the club officially announcing the return of the goalkeeper on their social media accounts. Heaton is a United academy graduate and has returned to the club after 11 years away.
During this time, he featured for Burnley, and has also played for Aston Villa. His performances have also led to him winning two international caps for England. Here is what the player had to day to the official website of the club:
“I’m really proud of my journey, but I couldn’t be happier to come back here and look to be part of this successful football club.”
“I was brought up in the academy, so I understand the mentality. It’s about being part of something bigger than yourself. It’s about being dedicated and resilient.”
“I’m excited to be part of where the team’s going, there’s been really good progress over the last few years.”
“I feel incredibly excited, I feel great, I feel like I can bring something, so yeah, I’m looking forward to getting started.”
“I’m proud of my journey and I’m delighted to be back where I started my career.”
With Sergio Romero leaving the club, Heaton will be the third choice goalkeeper for United behind Dean Henderson and David De Gea. That is, unless one of them is sent out on loan or sold in the month and a half ahead.
