Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu beats Yamaguchi to advance to the semi-final

PV Sindhu advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s singles event by defeating Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in straight games. Sindhu kept her cool and won the first game 21-13 after a game that lasted just over an hour. In the second game, she faced a strong challenge from Yamaguchi, but she persevered and won the game 22-20, thereby winning the match.

Sindhu now has four consecutive games victories at the Tokyo Olympics. In the competition, she has not lost a single game. Sindhu will face the winner of the Ratchanok Intanon versus Tai Tzu Ying match in the semi-finals on July 31st.

PV India shuttler Sindhu advanced to the women’s singles semi-finals after defeating Japan’s number four seed Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals on Friday at the Musashino Forest Plaza Court 1. Yamaguchi was defeated by Sindhu 21-13, 22-20. Sindhu and Yamaguchi battled for 56 minutes in the quarterfinals.

The opening game was tighter than the score indicated, and Sindhu had to bring her A-game to win 21-13. The first game’s score may not reflect how closely it was fought, but Yamaguchi made sure she fought for every point. The great Indian shuttler needed only one more game to go to the semi-finals.

In the second game, Yamaguchi made Sindhu work hard, and the Indian shuttler had to be at her best for every point. Sindhu, the number six seed, eventually won the match in straight games. Sindhu and Yamaguchi had a 54-shot rally in the second game of the quarter-final, which lasted one minute and two seconds.

Sindhu defeated Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark in the Round of 16 match of the women’s individual event at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday at the Musashino Forest Plaza Court 3. Sindhu cruised into the quarter-finals by defeating Blichfeldt 21-15, 21-13 in just 41 minutes.
