Tito Jackson passes away at 70: All You Need to Know
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our darling father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson. We’re all in shock, saddened, and heartbroken. Poppa was an amazing man who showed love and concern to every single person and their wellbeing,” Tito’s sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll wrote in the Instagram post.
Born on October 15, 1953, Tito was the third of ten children born to Joe and Catherine Jackson. He was a founding member of the legendary band The Jackson 5, which originally featured Tito, Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, before Randy replaced Jermaine in 1975.
The iconic family group, fronted by the phenomenally talented teen superstar Michael, produced a series of ’70s hits including “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” “I’ll Be There,” “Never Can Say Goodbye,” and many more. The Jackson 5 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
Tito continued his solo career, releasing albums like Tito Time in 2016 and Under Your Spell in 2021. This summer, he performed alongside his brothers Jackie and Marlon, playing concerts in California, Scotland, and England. Their most recent performance was on September 8 in Surrey, England. More shows, including an October 25 date in Atlantic City, had been scheduled for the fall.
