Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in a loan deal. The striker’s return to the Premier League has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, meaning it is only a matter of time before the move is made official.
The deal includes a buy option, which is not mandatory, and will be active in the summer transfer window. The player will be in London in the coming hours and will subsequently complete his medical to finalise the transfer.
Timo Werner to return to the Premier League with Spurs move imminent
After falling out of favour at Leipzig in his second spell at the club, the German forward is returning to the Premier League to maximise his chances of selection in the German national team at the European Championships in the summer. With Son Heung-Min set to miss the coming month because of national team duty in the AFC Asian Cup, Werner could have significant game time in January.
His previous spell in England’s top flight was with Spurs’ rivals, Chelsea. In 56 Premier League games, he only scored 10 goals and provided nine assists for the Blues, albeit winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with them.
Now, he is set for a second run at the Premier League with Ange Postecoglou’s philosophy potentially the saving grace for Timo Werner.
