Timo Werner

Timo Werner will be returning to RB Leipzig from Chelsea, after two years in London. It was reported that the move would be a loan deal with the option to buy. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the transfer will be permanent.

The German recently spoke out over lack of playing time under Thomas Tuchel, and has mentioned that he doesn’t fit into the system either. With the World Cup coming up later this year, the forward will be keen to make the national team and returning to his best form at Leipzig might help him achieve that.

The transfer fee has not been revealed as of yet, but rumours suggest it is around £25 million. Personal terms have been agreed for over a month, and it is likely that the striker will be taking a pay cut on his current €275,000 per week contract.

Juventus were also rumoured to be interested in him, but his former club have reached an agreement to sign him now. Chelsea are now left with Armando Broja as the only natural centre-forward in the line-up. Kai Havertz has been struggling in the role, and Broja is yet to earn a starting place.

So, the West London side night have to make a late transfer to sign a replacement for Timo Werner now that he is on his way back to the Bundesliga.
