Intel has launched the Thunderbolt 5 standard, which provides next-generation connectivity like as 120 Gbps bandwidth, 240W charging, 8K 540Hz, and more. Thunderbolt technology, formerly developed by Intel and Apple, boosted data transfer capabilities to a whole new level, but Team Blue has finally introduced next-gen “Thunderbolt 5” technology, which brings substantial advancements onboard.

The Thunderbolt 4 standard was designed with high-end compatibility in mind, particularly when it came to overcoming the performance gap that occurred when connecting external monitors. Intel has been discussing Thunderbolt 5 for a long now, and it appears that the corporation has understated the technology’s capabilities, since the data published by Intel indicates an entirely different image, which we shall explore later.

Thunderbolt 5 will have increased bandwidth capacity, reaching an astounding 120Gbps.

However, the 120Gbps record is also feasible when all three lanes are dedicated to data transmission, which occurs when an external monitor with extremely high resolution is connected.

Gamers should celebrate as well, as Intel has revealed that Thunderbolt 5 will allow up to three 4K displays @144Hz, as well as the capacity to support a 540Hz monitor, thereby expanding the arena of portable gaming. Furthermore, Thunderbolt 5 will be compatible with next-generation DisplayPort 2.1, USB v4, USB 3 20G, and PCIe Gen4, enabling for greater data transmission rates without any tradeoffs. It will also be supporting charging speeds up to 240W.
