Bayern Munich have confirmed that Thomas Tuchel will be leaving the club at the end of the season. The Bavarians most recently fell to defeat in a 3-2 scoreline away at Bochum, right after losing 3-0 to Bayer Leverkusen. As a result, they have been left eight points away from the top of the table, with Xabi Alonso’s side in control of the league title.
Die Roten could miss out on the title for the first time in 11 years, and are also out of the DFB Pokal. They have also lost the first round of their Champions League Round of 16 clash against Lazio, and are trailing 1-0. Therefore, they are at risk of having their first trophyless season in over a decade, which has forced the hierarchy of the club to make the decision.

The former Chelsea manager replaced Julian Nagelsmann at the club last season, and hasn’t quite been able to convince fans in spite of the positive results this season. The undefeated run from Bayer Leverkusen has been simply miraculous and has downplayed the results secured by Bayern so far this season, which hasn’t been that bad.
However, the style of play and lack of creativity at times has forced individual brilliance from players as the deciding factor in games. The loss against Leverkusen hasn’t made things easier either, and the club will now appoint a new manager at the end of the season.
Xabi Alonso is one of the candidates being considered, given he was a former Bayern Munich player in his own right. But, he is also being pursued by Liverpool, whom he also featured for. And as a result, it will be a difficult challenge for both clubs considering the lucrative projects they both have to offer.
