Thomas Tuchel has been linked as one of the names who could succeed Gareth Southgate as the manager of the England national team. This would be following the World Cup, since the FA believes that Southgate is the right man to lead the team to Qatar in a month’s time.
However, once the World Cup has been played, Tuchel could be one of the names on the list for the FA. Mauricio Pochettino has also been rumoured, but hasn’t entered any negotiations as of yet.
Thomas Tuchel could be the next England manager
Gareth Southgate has come under a lot of criticism recently – mainly due to the lack of goals for England. They only scored one goal prior to their 3-3 draw with Germany, and struggled to create a lot of chances due to a lack of creativity.
This is something that Tuchel’s Chelsea struggled with as well, which could be a returning problem. His experience with members of the squad like Mason Mount and Reece James would help, but it is anybody’s guess whether he could thrive in the role.
Right now, Thomas Tuchel is on vacation after being dismissed from Chelsea. He is expected to return to Germany before the end of the year due to visa issues. He was offered the Bayer Leverkusen job, but rejected it before it was given to Xabi Alonso. And Tuchel is still waiting for the right opportunity to come around before returning to the dugout.
