Christmas eve saw the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel from the post of the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, despite managing to win 4-0 against Racing Strasbourg only a few hours before his sacking.
The German coach managed to lead the club into their first-ever Champions League final, and almost won the competition, only to lose to Bayern Munich in the final.
According to the latest developments, Tuchel’s contract with Paris has been dissolved immediately, and he will be available to take on a new job with no delay. The termination of the contract with their now-former manager will cost the club €6 million.
The reason behind the decision made by the club was mainly due to his lack of influence on the squad, as well as a communication gap between himself and the players. Among the sporting reasons was the lack of a clear cut direction of the team under the German.
Paris endured a shaky start to the 20/21 season, but currently find themselves only a point behind Lyon and Lille, in third place.
Fabrizio Romano, the renowned Italian journalist has given his famous “Here We Go” signal to the rumours linking Mauricio Pochettino to the job at Paris Saint-Germain. For those unfamiliar with Romano’s work, it basically means that the deal is as good as done and will be officially confirmed by the club in the upcoming days.
With the National scene mostly dominated by Paris Saint-Germain, the main expectation from Mauricio Pochettino when he takes up the job would be delivering their first-ever Champions League trophy.
Much like his work with Tottenham, it is expected that the Argentinian’s arrival at the club will bring about a clear cut change on the pitch, as well as instil a strong sense of direction amongst the players of the club.
