Thiago Silva

Chelsea have reached a total agreement with Thiago Silva to renew his contract until June 2024. The Brazilian centre-back has been the best player for the team this season, and despite being 38 years old, is one of the best in the league.

The renewal has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, as a verbal agreement is in place between the two parties. Silva is very happy with Chelsea and London, and was always keen on continuing with the club beyond his current deal which was set to run out in June 2023.

But with the consistency he is showing every single week, it is hard to see him being dropped from the squad. Even with the presence of much younger players like Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah and Kalidou Koulibaly, he is an undroppable player for Graham Potter in central defence.

In the coming weeks, we can expect an official announcement from Chelsea about Thiago Silva’s new contract.

Talks are also ongoing about N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount’s new deals. But, nothing has been agreed with the pair as of yet. Mount is holding out for a better financial offer from Chelsea to reflect his contributions on the pitch.

On the other hand, Kante wants a three-year deal with the option for another year. But, the club is offering him a two-year contract with the option for another year, in light of his recent fitness struggles. As a result, there is a chance that the two midfielders could leave the club in the summer if the stalemate continues.
