Thiago Silva has reached a verbal agreement with Brazilian club Fluminense to join them at the end of his contract with Chelsea. The centre-back intends to move on from the Blues four years after making the move from PSG, and winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with them during this time.
The 39-year-old was visibly in tears after Chelsea’s recent loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup semifinals. He was asked about his future in the fallout of the game, and all but confirmed his departure.

In spite of his age, the veteran has shown time and time again that his intuition and reading of the game is second to none. Therefore, he has still regularly made the starting line-up for Chelsea this season, in spite of a brief spell on the bench in winter.
Silva has had a brilliant time in Europe, playing for some of the top clubs in the continent including AC Milan, alongside the aforementioned Chelsea and PSG.
He previously featured for Fluminense between 2007 and 2009, and will now return to his native country to see out the remainder of his incredible career. Real Madrid legend Marcelo most recently led the club to their first-ever Copa Libertadores, and will now benefit from another icon at the club.
