Chelsea are in talks with Thiago Silva to extend his contract for another season. The veteran has been their best player all season, and is showing no signs of slowing down even though he is getting older and is one of the most experienced players in the Premier League.

Discussions between the two parties are ongoing, and Silva is keen on continuing with Chelsea for one more season. However, a total agreement hasn’t been reached as of yet.

The Brazilian is considered a leader in the locker room, and has been that way ever since joining from PSG. And in three years, he has barely made a mistake, becoming a fan favourite in the process.

The 38-year-old has played 19 Premier League games for the Blues this season, and has been the most reliable option at the back in spite of Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly’s presence in the team.

While he might not be as fast as he was a decade ago, his intelligence on the pitch is unparalleled. And it is his remarkable positioning that has made him such a solid presence at the back and has made his age seem irrelevant.

Benoit Badiashile and Thiago Silva could be the preferred partnership going forward, considering how well the two seem to be playing. And even though Silva will be 39 by the time the new deal expires, it seems like he has a few more years left in him even at this stage.
