Former PSG captain Thiago Silva is now a free agent after finishing this season as Champions League runners-up. He had already informed the French side that he will leave this summer.
Thiago Silva joined PSG from Milan in 2012 and has helped the club to gain glory in France. Everyone at PSG wanted to give him a fitting farewell by winning the Champions League but they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the finals on Sunday.
After the defeat, Silva has now decided about his next destination. He is going to sign a €6m per season deal with Premier League side Chelsea until June 2022.
Thiago Silva to Chelsea, here we go! The Brazilian CB today has accepted Chelsea bid until June 2022. He’s gonna leave PSG and sign for next two years. No chances for Fiorentina. Deal to be completed on next days. 🔵🇧🇷 #CFC #Chelsea #Thiago

Although Chelsea finished fourth last season, they conceded 54 goals in the Premier League. Lampard has been on the lookout to sign a new defender. Frank Lampard’s side has a shacky defence so the addition of a vastly experienced defender would definitely improve the backline.
Now the question arises, Thiago Silva will be 36 years next month so can he handle the pace and intensity of the Premier League at this age? Premier League has always been a physical league so can Silva live up to the standards of the English top-flight?
Silva is a free agent now, so even if he turns 36-year-old, signing such a coveted player on a free transfer is always going to be a successful deal. So Lampard’s Chelsea has decided to sign him and he will pen down the contract immediately.
After Thiago signing, Chelsea will consider to loan Tomori (Ligue1 chances – many clubs interested) and Bakayoko to AC Milan (advanced talks) then Emerson Palmieri, so they’ll complete Ben Chilwell deal with Leicester.
