Arsenal fans’ demands for a creative playmaker during the first half of the season were answered by the arrival of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid during the January transfer window. The player has since truly established himself as a standout performer in the heart of the park.

He was essential in their North London Derby win over Tottenham, scoring the equaliser that eventually proved to be vital in their quest for the three points in the Derby. The player has been impressive not only on the pitch but also off of it in training. His attitude and professionalism have been remarkable and he is reportedly enjoying life in England too.

The deal is being labelled as the best transfer of the January window, and considering the impact that he has had on Mikel Arteta’s team, it might just be completely true.

With all that said, Arsenal want to keep the player beyond the ongoing season, but the player is out on a simple loan deal from Real Madrid that is set to expire at the end of the season. Speaking on the situation on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio mentioned that Zinedine Zidane and his future at Real Madrid alongside his plans would be vital in determining the future of Martin Odegaard.

The Norwegian himself is open to the idea of staying at Arsenal, since he is getting plenty of playing time with the Gunners, something he did not have much of while under Zidane at Madrid. But the final verdict will be known only at the end of the season when the two clubs formally meet to reach a mutually agreed solution.
