The trusted Tata Tiago crosses the 500K mark today

Tata Motors has been making strong cars for Indian consumers for years now and has bounced back in the market with vehicles like Nexon, Punch, Tiago and more. Among them Tata Tiago is one of the most affordable cars by the company yet strong, reliable and long-lasting, giving a pleasant to first-time car buyers.

Tata Tiago Crosses 500,000 Sales Milestone

So, Tata Motors today announced that the Tiago has crossed the 500,000 sales milestone. The last 100,000 units were sold within a span of 15 months, which indicates its rising appeal to customers seeking a dynamic and comfortable driving experience.

The Tata Tiago has been praised for its appealing design, exceptional safety features, feature-rich interiors, and cutting-edge technology integration. It has also been awarded over 40 prestigious awards, including the 2017 Indian Car of the Year award. The Tata Tiago is available in multiple powertrain options, including petrol, CNG, and electric. It is also available in an SUV-inspired variant called the Tiago NRG.

Launched back in 2016, Tata Tiago is a subcompact hatchback which is one of the most popular cars in India and has been praised for its fuel efficiency, safety features, and stylish design. The Tiago is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 86 horsepower and 113 Newton meters of torque. It is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. The Tiago gets an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 23.2 kmpl with the manual transmission and 22.4 kmpl with the AMT transmission.

The Tata Tiago comes with a host of safety features, including dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and Isofix child seat anchors. It has also been awarded a 4-star safety rating by Global NCAP.

The profile of Tiago buyers showcases its resonance with young and aspirational individuals, with an average buyer age of 35 years. 60% of Tiago’s sales come from urban markets and the remaining 40% are from rural markets, highlighting its broad appeal across different customer segments. Tiago has also witnessed a positive shift in female buyers, who contribute approximately 10% of its sales. Notably, Tiago has gained immense popularity among first-time car buyers, with 71% of its customers making their maiden car purchase in FY23.

Since its launch, Tata Tiago has achieved several key milestones, embodying Tata Motors’ new design philosophy and paving the way for future models. In January 2020, Tiago received a 4-star safety rating from GNCAP, establishing itself as the safest hatch in its segment. With its fun and smart attributes, Tiago has become the go-to hatchback for young and fun-loving customers.
