The Women’s Premier League WPL 2023 auction was held on February 13, in Mumbai, with five franchises – Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz – in attendance. 449 players were up for grabs, with each team having a budget of INR 12 crore and a maximum of 90 slots available in the auction.

The WPL 2023 auction saw some historic moments, including Smriti Mandhana becoming the first player ever to be auctioned in the WPL’s history. She was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 3.4 crore.

Meanwhile, the UP Warriorz had a balanced squad, with a mix of established stars and up-and-coming talent. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur were two of the biggest names in the franchise, going for INR 2.6 crore and INR 2.5 crore respectively. The franchise went all out to get Deandra Dottin, who was one of the most expensive players in the auction, going for INR 3.2 crore. Other notable players in the franchise include Jemimah Rodrigues, who went for INR 1.8 crore, and Elysse Perry, who went for INR 2.6 crore.
