## What Is The Testaments About?

*The Testaments* is an American dystopian drama television series produced for Hulu, based on the 2019 novel by Margaret Atwood. It serves as a narrative continuation to *The Handmaid’s Tale* (2017–2025) and follows young teens Agnes — dutiful and pious — and Daisy, a new arrival and convert from beyond Gilead’s borders. As they navigate the gilded halls of Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school for future wives — a place where obedience is instilled brutally and always with divine justification — their bond becomes the catalyst that will upend their past, their present, and their future. The show holds an impressive **85% on Rotten Tomatoes** and premiered with a three-episode drop on April 8, 2026, before settling into a weekly Wednesday release schedule.

## The Story So Far — Episodes 1–3 Recap

The first three episodes introduced the show’s main characters and revealed part of their backstories, especially Daisy’s. They also revealed Daisy’s motivation for being in Gilead — why she returned to the place of the people who killed her adoptive parents. Agnes was also introduced, with the first three episodes teasing her internal struggles that conflict with the Gilead values she has been raised to uphold.

One of the biggest early surprises: fans were surprised to see Elisabeth Moss reprise her role as June Osborne at the end of Episode 1. [Vvip Times](https://vviptimes.com/the-testaments-episode-4-release-date-april-15-hulu/) Creator Bruce Miller explained that June’s shadow looms over the entire show — and since Agnes is actually Hannah, the daughter June left behind in Gilead, her presence was always going to be essential to the story.

## What to Expect in Episode 4 — “Green Tea”

The ‘Green girl’ narrative will give the audience a chance to view Agnes’s internal struggles with being forced to fit into a predetermined role — as the ceremony introduces how societal roles in Gilead are constructed, bringing young girls into their defined future as wives and mothers. Meanwhile, Daisy will struggle to maintain her appearance as a Pearl girl without outing herself as a spy. [PRIMETIMER](https://www.primetimer.com/features/the-testaments-season-1-episode-4-release-date-and-time-what-to-expect-and-more) The episode title itself — *“Green Tea”* — sits perfectly within the show’s pattern of deceptively civilised settings masking something far more sinister underneath. Expect a tea party that is anything but pleasant.
