Jurgen Klopp is pleased with the progress his Liverpool team has made this season, as the German coach has witnessed his team play some of the best football in the Premier League.
Despite being crowned champions in 2019/20 and currently sitting second in the Premier League behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, Klopp claims that this is the finest team he’s ever had at Anfield.
Liverpool and Premier League
The Reds beat Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup final last weekend, keeping their hopes of a quadruple alive this season. They’re still in the FA Cup and the Champions League, and they’re putting pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League. In the January transfer window, they added Luis Diaz to their squad.
Both the Colombian and Diogo Jota have already established themselves as key players, assisting Liverpool to the best offense in the Premier League so far, with 70 goals, and the second-best in Europe’s top leagues, trailing only Bayern Munich’s 75 goals.
Trent Alexander-Arnold explained: “Klopp’s instructions are clear. There’s a game plan and a way to carry it out. Not every game is the same, so the tactics change, but he gives us the freedom to show our quality. We’re an attacking team that looks to create chances and score goals. We want to hurt our opponents and the best way is to hit everything possible.”
Salah’s Performance
With 19 goals, Salah is the Premier League’s top scorer. Teammate Diogo Jota is in second place with 12 goals, followed by Sadio Mane with 11 goals. The Egyptian has been dubbed “the best in the world” by Klopp.
Salah, along with Alexander-Arnold, has the most assists in England with ten. Andy Robertson is nine points behind. Salah wants to break Harry Kane’s record of 23 goals and 14 assists from the previous season, which he set as the leading scorer and assist provider.
